An email alias is an email which uses the same mailbox along with the primary e-mail address. For example, you can have email@example.com as your original e-mail address and create an alias firstname.lastname@example.org. Each of the addresses will be able to share the exact same mailbox, so messages sent to either one of them shall be received in one place. You can use aliases for several reasons, for example getting in touch with various groups of people or signing up on websites. For those who begin to get lots of spam, for instance, you can easily erase the alias whilst your original mailbox will not be changed in the least and you will maintain the e-mails you need. Aliases in many cases are considered to be an alternative to forwarding e-mails from one mailbox to a different one if you work with two or more email address for contact on your website.
